    Runflat banden hebben een stevigere wand dan normale banden. Als deze leeg is kunt u nog maximaal 80 km bij 80 km/uur doorrijden. Deze technologie wordt met name gebruikt bij BMW's en Mini's. U kunt een Runflat band herkennen aan een codering op de band, bijvoorbeeld RFT, SSR, RSC of ROF.

    Sommige voertuigen hebben banden nodig met een groter draagvermogen. U kunt een Extra Load band herkennen aan de letters XL of RF op het zijvlak van de band.

    De Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company werd opgericht in 1898 door Frank Seiberling. Seiberling noemde zijn bedrijf naar de pionier Charles Goodyear, de uitvinden van het vulkaniseren. In 1926 werd Goodyear beschouwd als het grootste rubberconcern ter wereld. Op dit moment heeft de onderneming ongeveer 70.000 werknemers in meer dan 60 fabrieken in 26 landen.

    Goodyear staat bekend om de vele technische doorbraken, innovatieve toepassingen, uitvindingen, primeurs en opzienbarende verbeteringen op het gebied van veiligheid. De producent is onder andere pionier op het gebied van run on flat banden, waarmee de bestuurder in geval van een lekke band gewoon kan doorrijden.
